From Research to an Early Concept
Research should change what you draw, not disappear when ideation begins.
By the end of today, students can…
Select
research findings that should shape an idea.
Develop
a rough redesign concept that responds to evidence.
Gather
brief user feedback without defending the idea.
Research decoration
Write “ergonomic” next to a sketch without showing what changed.
Research response
Show a wider rounded contact area and annotate which user evidence influenced the feature.
Build one rough concept from your strongest findings.
Choose
Select 2–3 findings that matter most.
Sketch
Draw an early redesign concept that responds to them.
Annotate
Connect each major feature to evidence.
If time allows, build a tiny paper/card mock-up of one important feature.
Grip
Mock up size, shape, or contact.
Access
Mock up opening, clearance, or reach.
Stability
Mock up base, support, or orientation.
Do not argue with the feedback. Record it first. You can decide later what to use.
Finish the unit with evidence.
What comes next?
Unit 3 develops visual communication, success criteria, planning, practical skills, and a formal B + C prototype challenge.
